Abstract for Research Report | Recently, the areas of cryptology and information security are proceeding various research based on more advanced mathematics, and simultaneously, in the area of mathematics, motivations to promote collaborations with other related areas are growing. For example, in the field of Post-Quantum Cryptography (which are cryptosystems expected to be still secure even after realization of large-scale quantum computers), a hot topic arises by an attack found in this year on isogeny-based cryptosystem SIKE which was one of the main candidates at the ongoing standardization procedure, where the attack utilizes a theory of Abelian varieties. On the other hand, to the standardization procedure, several cryptosystems were also applied using various mathematical objects (algebraic surfaces, Mersenne primes, non-commutative groups, etc.) which have not been major tools in the conventional cryptology. Regarding such trends, it is beneficial for both research areas to seek wide and novel applications of mathematics to cryptology. This proposal is for planning a research workshop on topics in both areas, aiming at promoting communications and future collaborations among researchers/students in these areas. |
